Montblanc dedicates a very special limited edition to a few dragons that have become some of the most honored in East Asian culture. The eleventh in the series features the Coiling Dragon Dragon. The majestic Coiling Dragon winds its body sinuously around the solid Au 750 white gold cap and barrel as a skilled and patiently created hand-engraving. Reflecting traditional Chinese philosophy, where yellow symbolizes the element of earth, and the dragon being associated with earth due to its control over weather and nature, the body is fully set with carefully selected yellow sapphires. To match the colour of the dragon’s body, its eyes as well as the cone are set with further yellow sapphires, while the dragon’s head and claws are made of solid Au 750 gold. A hand-engraved pattern, symbolising a Chinese knot for bringing good fortune, enriches the barrel of the edition. The hand-crafted, solid Au 750 gold, signature gold-coated nib set with a light yellow sapphire, bears a delicate engraving of a Chinese pavilion surrounded by water in honour of the mythical phenomenon Shen (蜃, meaning Mirage), a particular type of dragon. These structures serve as places of tranquillity and meditation. The design is further enriched with an engraving of the dragon’s head on the solid Au 750 signature gold forepart, while the cap top is crowned by the Montblanc diamond, surrounded by brilliantcut diamonds.
